Integrated care
Many people with OCD arrive already taking a shelf of supplements, chosen from forums and hope. Some of that shelf is harmless, some of it is genuinely useful, and some of it is quietly working against the prescription. In this practice, supplements are part of the medication conversation, reviewed with the same care as anything else you swallow.
No supplement treats OCD on its own, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Medication and ERP carry the evidence for OCD itself. What supplements can do, when they are chosen well, is support the ground the treatment stands on: correcting a measured deficiency, steadying sleep, taking the edge off the physical wear that chronic anxiety produces. A few, such as N-acetylcysteine, have early study evidence as add-ons alongside OCD medication; the evidence is mixed, and here they are considered only as additions, never as replacements.
Bring everything you take to your Comprehensive Initial Appointment, including the bottles you are embarrassed about. Each one gets a plain verdict: keep, adjust, or stop, with the reason said out loud. New supplements are added one at a time, for a stated purpose, and reviewed at Follow-up Appointments against your symptom scores like anything else in the plan. If a supplement is not earning its place, it goes. The goal is a short list that works, not a long list that hopes.
Book a Comprehensive Initial Appointment and bring the bottles. Prescriptions and supplements, finally in the same conversation.
